Resorcinol seems to be the best glue for wooden boat construction, but is toxic. epoxy is very good but may be hazardous. i'm not even sure resorcinol is still available (in canada). gorilla, or polyurethane??? my question is: what glue is usually taken for wooden boat construction? i've been watching youtube clips about strip canoe being glued with ''white glue'' i want to build my 19 foot. After stitching the boat you only need to glue between the stitches for the boat to keep it's shape. then you remove the stitches and wires and start filleting on the outside. on the inside i used. The third video in the how-to build a boat series covers the assembly of the hull using zip ties with the stitch and glue method. this construction method can be used for other boats and wood.
I wanted to build this boat using home depot products, to be an example for most people that can't access easily proper boat building materials. on the wood-on-wood joints, i will use a peanut. You can build with glues other than epoxy or polyester resin. you will want to google the 'boil test' to verify the glue isn't prone to breaking down due to water. wooden boat has done a number stories on why boats build without modern sealers work out quite well. i hope this helps..
